THEN AND NOW

Rashida Jones’ Hair Story

Rashida Jones, award-winning actress, writer, producer, and director, joins Hårklinikken as Partner & Creative Advisor. As a longtime user of Hårklinikken, she shares her story from perimenopausal hair loss to eventual growth.

Rashida has always had fine hair. From childhood, she was aware of it — the way it required patience, the way it felt fragile. It wasn't until her 40sas she began to notice the early signs of perimenopause, that what she describes as a quiet insecurity became something she could no longer set aside.

Hormonal shedding during perimenopause is common, though what is less often discussed is when hair does not return on its own timeline — an absence that may be a sign of the body's broader hormonal imbalance. For Rashida, this shift brought new sense of urgency, “You feel like your identity is really compromised, when you have something that’s that prominent... Not recognizing yourself is a huge part of the aging process. It’s not just that I’m not comfortable with aging, it’s that I don’t see myself when I look in the mirror.”

“I remember somebody had told me about Hårklinikken and people who I trust had great results already, so I met Lars for the first time to have a consultation to talk about what’s possible because I had a lot of hair loss that wasn’t coming back.”

Lars told her he believed they could return her hair to where it had been in her late 30s — a period she remembers as the first time she had felt genuinely at ease with it. That possibility was significant to her.

She appreciated that the program was built on compliance, clinical rigor, and ongoing personalization. Her award-winning Hair Gain Extract, hand-blended and individually formulated, was applied nightly, with a scalp massage to support absorption and circulation. Her formula evolved over time as her hair and scalp responded.

“Even from the beginning, Lars and I would talk for hours. I love the way his mind works, and he is always committed to getting to the next, deeper level of how to keep hair healthy and growing.”

“Now Hårklinikken is just a part of my life. I know I have the hair that I have because I’ve been committed to it.”

She has remained fully compliant for six and a half years, and beams over her results. "I look at my scalp, my hairline, the length of my hair, the way my hair grows and I actually can't believe it," she says. "Sometimes I'll catch a shadow behind my hair and I'll see all this new growth underneath my long hair."

People now comment on the shine of her hair — something she had never associated with herself. "I've just never felt like a shiny-haired person," she says. "That's all Hårklinikken."

"I look at my scalp, my hairline, the length of my hair, the way my hair grows and I actually can't believe it.”

Rashida's relationship with Hårklinikken is grounded in a shared philosophy, a commitment to ongoing curiosity, scientific rigor, and long-term thinking over quick solutions. For someone who has built a career on thoughtful, considered creative work, the alignment felt natural.

“I was the engine behind this partnership, I asked to be a part of this company because I’m an avid user and fan of the brand. I’ve told so many people about Hårklinikken. It gave me joy to catch up with people and hear them say that it really worked.”

"Unless I had these results, I probably would have never talked about it publicly. I hope it gives somebody the courage to take care of themselves and not feel like they're alone."

Rashida offers vulnerability and grace about her personal challenges with perimenopause in her 40s, which is something so many women face in silenceHer journey is a beautiful reminder that lasting results arise when we honor our bodies with patience and care.

"A family friend once told me that beauty is a depreciating asset — that our brains and our character are appreciating assets, and we should invest there. I believe that. But confidence is real and important too. I try not to fixate on my looks, though I do want to feel healthy and recognize myself. Hårklinikken fits that. It's about what I can do for myself — aligned with a company that has a deep commitment to science and research. The end result is feeling better when I leave the house. That's enough for me," she shares.

By stepping away from the pressure of instant gratification and trusting a mindful, deeply intentional process, Rashida proves that when we give our changing biology the time it truly needs to heal, we don’t just restore our hair, we reclaim our foundational sense of self.
